Data
Maintenance
During the course of
stock market analysis, many adjustments to the data are
required to ensure accurate and informed charting.
These adjustments can include share splits, bonus
issues, capital reconstructions, mergers and name
changes to mention a few. This ensures that your
analysis is based on comparable data, where years of
historic data is back-adjusted for changes that effect
the capital structure and, therefore the share price, of
a company.
Using data that is not
adjusted can lead to poor decisions and costly
mistakes.
The
adjustments for Corporate Actions that we apply to our
data are based on the official dilution factors and
adjustments advised by the relevant exchange.
As a supplier of reliable
and accurate data, we do not believe it is appropriate
for us to make arbitrary decisions regarding the
application of adjustments and, therefore, we apply all
Corporate Actions without exception. The Corporate
Actions we adjust for include:
-
A
Capital Reconstruction, including Splits and
Consolidations.
-
Bonus
Issues.
-
Capital
Returns.
-
Special
Dividends (from 01 July 2000) but not ordinary
dividends.
-
Name
and Code Changes.
In summary:
-
GemPro
utilises an automatic data management system to
ensure that any adjustments required are applied

We
apply all Corporate Actions as summarised above.
-
All
adjustments are based on information provided by the

-
We
do not adjust our data for Ordinary Dividends but do

on the official dilution factors calculated by the
relevant exchange.
-
We
do not apply any other data adjustments other than
the official adjustments.
